Looking carefully at the manner in which Avraham was Told of the impending destruction of Sodom and Amora, as compared to the Akeida.
Continuing our investigation (see previous posts “ Accounting for Avraham’s Silence in the Face of the Akeida and “Yeshayahu Leibowitz’ Take on Avraham’s Troubling Silence re the Akeida”) regarding how to explain why Avraham simply accepted the Commandment to sacrifice Yitzchak without trying to save him from the Divine Decree as he had done with respect to the inhabitants of Sodom and Amora, I came across an essay by Arel Segal HaLevi, entitled “Madua Avraham Hagen Al Anshei Sodom VeLo Al Yitzchak?”). The author mentions a number of hypotheses, but the one which caught my attention concerns the manner in which Avraham was informed of these two situations.
